Today is the 11th of August 2009. As promised and contracted, Metricon has started to fix the site before the slab laying.
Erwin, being so eager to finally see for himself if it really has started, went to the site during his lunch break. He just phoned me to let me know what he saw at the site. He told me that they started excavating and digging. At 3 o’clock in the afternoon, I received a call from our Customer Service Coordinator telling that the Site Manager has just rang her to update as to what was going on to the site on its first day. She told me that they have already taken out heaps of big rocks from the 30 meters that they have worked on. They still have a few more days to continue on. She asked us if we have any plan on how we will be removing those rocks from the site. I had an idea what she was talking about as I do remember during one of our conversations with them when they told us that rock removal was not included on the fixed site cost they billed us. However, it didn’t bother us that time as we were told by the salesperson we dealt with, that we could have it to stay on site and use them later for landscaping. That doesn’t seem to be the case. We were advised to have them removed as quick as possible or as soon as they have finished scraping the ground. I just asked her to provide me a quote from the service provider (removalist) as to how much we would have to pay for that though we are still planning to check on some other providers’ prices to compare.
Big rocks that were taken off the ground.

As soon as Erwin finished off from work, we all went to the site to see for ourselves obviously because we are so excited with the thought that it has started. We saw the big excavating machine parked to our block of land. No one was there working as it was past 5 already. We knew that the ground was dug basing on the color of the top soil. More importantly, we saw the big rocks that they told us about. I think we had about a truck load of them considering that they haven’t really finished off excavating. We don’t know what to think. It just looked so weird seeing those big rocks sitting on our block. We can’t do anything but to hope that removing them won’t cost too much.

I’m planning get a few quotes from different companies as soon as that part of work was done. I’ll let you know how we went and how much we would have to pay when we settle this issue.

Beyond this, we are happy to see it happening and excited to keep going until we move in.
