We went to Costco Melbourne to find out what it can offer to us. We know it just opened recently and we want to know for ourselves if we can save more by buying foods, groceries and other stuffs to this wholesaler.
We started by lining up and filing up a form. After that they’ll be asking for the membership fee of $60.00 for Individuals which they call Gold Membership. That’s what we end up getting. There’s also a business membership which is just $5 cheaper. After that, they’ll gonna take photo of you and your partner to be placed on the membership card. Said membership is renewable every year.

Moving forward, there are many items and loads of quality and popular brands inside the warehouse. But the question is.. are they cheap? My answer is not all of them. There are items that you can get cheaper elsewhere specially in your local shopping centre like Safeway, Aldi, Kmart etc… and you don’t have to be a member to buy from them. You can read my previous post about Adli and foodshopping.
What items we found cheap are
1. 25 kilos of rice for $37.00 normally $42.00
2. 3 liter Milk for just $2.79 normally $4 to $5
3. pack of ivory soaps fro 49 cents each.
Other item worth mentioning is 2 pack of Nuttela 750 grams for just over $10. What we found is that most items you can get discounts if you buy in bulk. Problem is that if you’re just single or a couple or even just got a small family, you will end up buying large amount of items for you to get the bulk discount.
